GANG Introduces RNC-Featured Glass Mosaic Artist

On Tuesday evening, July 19th, the Geauga Arts Network Group (GANG) will host glass mosaic artist Lisa Ruschman, who creatively transformed a large guitar that will be part of the Guitar Mania display during the upcoming RNC convention in Cleveland. Ruschman will be speaking about her artistic endeavors on July 19th, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:15 p.m., at Heinen’s Cafe, 402 Center Street in Chardon, Ohio.

Host for the evening will be Noah’s Child, aka Geauga-based painter and art instructor, Bev Krueger. This educational program is free and open to the general public; no reservations are necessary. Ruschman finds her inspiration in nature, and has surrounded herself with treasured materials that she transforms into mosaic artworks. In addition to glass, her work sometimes features stone, marble, sticks, bones and even feathers. She explains, “I try to listen, to hear the spirit of each piece and follow its wishes.”

Her works have been part of many public works projects in Northeastern Ohio, and she was recently awarded top honors in the 40th Annual Fairmount Art Exhibition. Ruschman will be studying in Italy this fall with renowned glass artist Mireille Swinnen, to perfect her technique with smalti glass and the Spilembergo style of mosaics.

The Geauga Arts Network Group is an ad hoc group whose mission is to promote communication, collaboration, and cooperation across artistic disciplines for artists living and/or working in Geauga County. For further information, contact Joanne Durante, 440-729-6481 or visit us on Facebook.
