Gate House is a support approach for persons 12 to 21 who want to live clean and sober.
Led by licensed addictions counselors, Gate House has a Recovery Coach who assists and monitors the teen’s integration into a recovery lifestyle, a School Coach who assists those struggling with their schooling efforts, and a Career/Vocations Coach who assists those exploring career and vocational choices.
Because of our broadly-based approach, there is no known similar program in the entire United States.
Gate House meets after school at the BRC, Bainbridge Recovery Club, 8231 East Washington St., Bainbridge Township, just outside Chagrin Falls. Call 855-402-4440 for days and times.
Addiction is an illness that is treatable. Sobriety through abstinence is quite possible with the support of others. Untreated addiction leads to pain, suffering, jails, institutions, and ultimately a difficult death. Gate House is a recovery based system of care.
Participants will live at home and continue to go to school or work. It has a strong emphasis on the family and family reconciliation and has a family program that meets frequently.
This is a several month commitment giving the teen the opportunity to internalize recovery concepts and sharply reduce the possibility of returning to alcohol and/or drug use.
Sadly, there is a very high relapse rate. Treatment outcome studies reveal:
- 42% first use in the first 30 days,
- 64% first use by 3 months,
- 70% first use by 6 months,
- 77% use within one year.
- By 12 months, 47% have returned to regular use of alcohol and/or drugs.
Gate House seeks to impact that relapse rate significantly. It takes an immense amount of repetition to “reprogram” the addicted thinking. Repetition is the keystone to learning.
Gate House may be the best first option for the courts, for the family, and for anyone who is motivated and has the desire to live sober. For those who cannot get sober through Gate House, licensed counselors will refer the teen to the next level of care.
Gate House strongly supports Twelve Step programs such as AA. They are an integral part of Gate House.
No one will be refused for the inability to pay the fee. All are welcome.
