Geauga County – March 12, 2020 – GCPL is committed to serving the needs of the public while also working to ensure the safety and health of our patrons, staff, and community. With the outbreak of the coronavirus, or COVID-19, we are closely monitoring information and following the guidelines provided by our county and state health officials and the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
The Library will currently remain open. However, we are cancelling all GCPL classes, programs, meetings, and events at all locations effective March 13 through March 31.
At this time, the following programs offered by our community partners will not be cancelled, but please check www.GeaugaLibrary.net for updates:
- AARP Tax Assistance at Bainbridge, Chardon, Geauga West, and Middlefield
- Red Cross Blood Drive, Geauga West, Mon., March 23, 1 – 7 p.m. and Chardon, Fri., March 27, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
- Census Training, Administrative Center, Mon., March 23 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.
- Primary Election voting, Middlefield, Tues., March 17, 6:30 a.m. – 7:30 p.m.
Lobby Stop services to most assisted living facilities and senior housing have also been canceled.
In addition to making hand sanitizer available, we continue to encourage our staff to follow best hygiene practices in the workplace, including frequent hand-washing and regularly cleaning and disinfecting surfaces and equipment in our buildings.
We encourage any concerned customers, especially those who are elderly or at higher risk of contracting this virus, to avoid visiting our library locations if they are feeling ill or concerned about potential exposure.
We will keep you informed of any additional changes in operation as this rapidly changing public health situation continues.
