Geauga County Public Library web users may notice a disturbance in accessing library third-party vendor services December 13, 2013. Innovative Interfaces, the purveyor of the GCPL catalog, is moving its installation from Fremont, CA to Oakland, CA. During this time, all web-based services that authenticate against the GCPL server may experience disruptions in service. As the IP address changes, the DNS that maps to the GCPL server address may require 24 hours to copy itself across the Internet.
Services that will be affected include:
- SearchOhio
- OhioLink
- Library ELF
- All databases
- Overdrive
Patrons should clear their browser cache to help alleviate ongoing access issues. GCPL’s Information Technology team is working with vendors to help ensure as smooth a transition as possible. If patrons notice issues in their service, they should report them to a Geauga County Public Library location. “We just learned of this situation,” says GCPL Director Deborah F. O’Connor. “And although we have no control over Innovative’s move, we are working closely with our vendors to keep everyone informed and resolve any issues as they arise. We thank all our patrons for their patience as we work through this move.”
