Geauga County Public Library Sponsors Literary Pumpkin-Carving Contest

Geauga County Public Library (GCPL) is celebrating the fall season with a pumpkin-carving contest. Carve a literary or bookish theme into your pumpkin to be judged by board members of the Geauga Council for Arts and Culture. Email a photo of your carved pumpkin along with the author and title of the book that inspired you by Nov. 1, 2013, to lori.weber@geaugalibrary.info.

Photos may be displayed on the library’s Facebook page and website. The winner will receive a $25 gift card to Barnes & Noble.

Who: GCPL patrons, all ages.

What: Carve a literary-inspired image into your pumpkin. Email photo and your name / phone number / book inspiration author and title to lori.weber@geaugalibrary.info

When: Photos must be received by Nov. 1, 2013 at 5 p.m. to be considered

Where: Anywhere you want to display your pumpkin and take a photo of it

Prize: $25 gift card to Barnes & Noble

Need inspiration? How about Poe’s “The Raven” or Shelley’s “Frankenstein”? Or, simply carve a book or your favorite book title. Ghosts, witches, spiders and haystacks are all viable candidates. All deserving entries will be shared on GCPL social media sites.
