Geauga County Public Library to display work by local artists

Geauga County – January 13, 2020 – In an effort to engage with and promote the
Geauga County arts community, GCPL is putting out a call for artists to display their works
at their Administrative Center Branch, with future plans to have displays at other Branches.
The inaugural display consists of art that represents a variety of ages, stages and artistic
expressions, all created at Fairmount Center for the Arts. Watercolor paintings include
creations by art students who have worked with Fairmount Faculty member Kathy Orcavecz.
Brigitte Fiorille, Program Director and Art Director, worked with preschoolers to create
watercolor fish paintings. Elementary school students created works with Linda Merchant.
Art will be on display Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., until March 31 and is available for
purchase.

Artists interested in displaying their work should contact Becki Gierman, Community
Relations Coordinator, at rgierman@geaugalibrary.net
“We are grateful for this partnership with the Geauga County Library. We value the
opportunity to showcase the creations of Fairmount’s students and the quality of instruction
provided by Fairmount’s professional Faculty,” says Jeannie Fleming-Gifford, executive
director of Fairmount Center for the Arts.

GCPL Director Ed Worso has this to say about this new library initiative, “We work to engage
with our communities in as many ways as possible, and the creative community is a big part
of that. To serve as an art gallery for local artists to share, discuss, and hopefully find new
homes for their work is an exciting step forward for us and we are excited about future
possibilities. Having collaborated with Fairmount Center for the Arts for so long made them
a perfect fit for our inaugural display.”
