Geauga County Public Library is opening a new public library space inside of their Administrative Center Branch. To mark the occasion, we will hold a grand opening with food, prizes and tours.
Administrative Center Branch Grand Opening
- Date: Tuesday, September 10th
- Time: Noon – 3:00 p.m.
- Place: GCPL Administrative Center Branch, 12701 Ravenwood Dr., Chardon
- Cost: FREE – Registration:http:// http://bit.ly/ACGrand – First 25 to register will receive a GCPL tote bag filled with GCPL Swag.
The Administrative Center Branch offers patrons most of the same services in all of our other buildings, including a browsing collection of books, magazines, and audiovisual materials, full access to library databases like http://Ancestry.com, http://Lynda.com, and http://ABCmouse.com, public computers, wifi, meeting rooms, a kids area, and more.
This allows us to have a convenient location for residents who work at or visit all the county offices and other facilities located in the area of Ravenwood Dr. “When I would walk in to the Administrative Center alongside a patron and hear them at the front desk asking to use the library only to be told that they would need to leave this space and drive to any of our other facilities, it struck a nerve. I felt like we have a big facility and we should have some space for the public with a decent collection and some comfortable seating,” says GCPL Director Ed Worso.
“Say for example, a mom has to be at the hospital for a long procedure that could take 6 or 8 hours and her kids or family just want a break to get away for a bit, we want to make sure that is available. This is a very real scenario that we have seen first-hand in this space.”
