Geauga Growth Partnership 2015 Annual Meeting: Register Now!

Cleveland, Ohio is becoming an increasingly popular venue for film production. From independent films and shorts to blockbusters, Cleveland’s reputation is growing as the go-to location for filmmakers. Judith Verno, executive producer of the “Michelle Knight Story Cleveland Abduction,” releasing this week on Lifetime, was quoted in a Plain Dealer interview as saying she found Cleveland to be “an extremely film-friendly town.”

Where might Geauga County fit into the film industry landscape? A recent study conducted by Cleveland State University estimates that, since 2009, the increase in media sector activity has resulted in $300 million impact on Northeast Ohio and the creation of 1,100 full-time equivalent (FTE) jobs.

The attraction of Cleveland as a production site is due in no small part to the unyielding efforts of Cleveland Film Commission’s President Ivan Schwarz. Mr. Schwarz will speak about economic impacts of the film industry for Geauga County business leaders at Geauga Growth Partnership’s Annual Meeting, Wednesday, June 24, 2015, 7:30-9:30 p.m. at Notre Dame Education Center, 13000 Auburn Road, Chardon, OH 44024.
