Geauga Music Shines With Love Fest

Anna Marie Wolfe, owner of Geauga Music Center of Chardon, Ohio, sees her music classroom reaching far beyond the door of her storefront. In fact, Wolfe actively looks for opportunities to be supportive of musical endeavors that draw people into the world that captured her heart at a young age.

“Successful events lead to engaged people and an increased interest in making music.” This is Wolfe explaining her philosophy of being supportive of local events through her business, Geauga Music Center.

“With Geauga Music present at their event they can see the path that needs to be taken to become lifelong music makers and not just folks that use YouTube to learn to play a few songs.”

Wolfe doesn’t just talk the talk, she walks it as well. Involved in several heavy-hitting events in Geauga County each year, Wolfe doesn’t just have a love of music, she has a passion for it. It would be only natural, then, to see her part of the team that is coordinating Love Fest Music Festival this year. Geauga Music Center is sponsoring a make and take activity crafted from up-cycled items for youth so children can create their own musical instruments.

“Children will be able to make rain sticks, castanets…whatever their hearts desire!” Said Wolfe.

It isn’t just about the family-friendly environment, though. When it is all said and done, Love Fest is a music festival that highlights a vast array of musical genres that bring forth the best of new and original music from NE Ohio and beyond. Case in point: the 2016 headliner, BEAMS, hails from Toronto, Canada. This indie-folk seven piece band shows off their harmonies amid expertly played mandolins, banjoes and guitars. The fact that they look forward to playing, free of charge for the Love Fest audience speaks well of the musical festivals ever-solidifying reputation.

BEAMS is not the only heavy hitter of the festival, however. Closer to home one will find New Moon Rising, a finalist in the Hard Rock Rising competition, taking to the Love Fest stage. Bro Dylan, Michelle Gaw, Skiba, Essential Groove,The Pistolettes, and the Tom Katlees will also be taking to the stage and all have solid followings under their musical belts. What makes Love Fest so exciting is the fact that one can hear the easy listening sounds of Essential Groove as the day winds down and you relax on the ample greenspace of Chardon Square park, or one can catch the latest pop rock sound live from Bro Dylan’s new album while you nosh on a culinary concoction from any of the excellent restaurants that offer takeout or open- air dining on the Square. Either way, this free musical festival makes Chardon a musical destination worth the trip.

Love Fest Music Festival is endorsed by the Chardon Tomorrow organization as well as the City of Chardon. Business supporters along with Geauga Music Center include Punderson Manor Resort, CCM Rental, Ubuntu Wellness, Geauga Theater, Noce Pizza, Crowsfoot Studio, Four Seasons Roofing, Sweet Grace Anna’s and Katherine Porter Design.

Love Fest Musical Festival is held Saturday, July 9, from 2:00pm – 10:00pm on Chardon Square. The event is always free to the public. Festival attendees are encouraged to bring a folding chair or blanket for seating. In case of rain, then the event will, at 5:00pm, move to Geauga Theater.
