It’s that time again already! Geauga News is happy to announce our 2nd Annual Live Laugh Love Award!
With Valentines Day only a couple weeks away, Geauga News is looking once again to award to one outstanding community volunteer $100 in cash, dinner for two at Welshfield Inn, and a front page feature about their years of service.

The LIVE LAUGH LOVE Award will be presented to one devoted individual who has been nominated by YOU! Last year’s award went to Sandy Mueller who has served with the Geauga County Historical Society for nearly 40 years. Sandy was an outstanding representation of the spirit behind this award, and we are looking for an equally worthy nominee this year. Geauga County is filled with so many committed volunteers, we expect double of what we received last year. Here are the rules!
YOU are essential to the success of this presentation! Do you know someone who has served faithfully for several years helping people or animals? We want to know about it! Geauga News wants to add a fresh new spin to the meaning of Valentines Day!
A nominee must fulfill three requirements in order to be considered.
1. Be a Geauga County resident of any age with a minimum of 3 years of regular volunteer work at the same organization also located within the county.
2. Must possess a positive, cheerful attitude that has spread a good measure of joy to those they serve.
3. Has demonstrated their commitment through genuine acts of sacrificial love.
In a nut shell, we are on a mission to locate an outstanding community member who LIVEs out their passion for helping others by spreading joy and LAUGHter wherever they serve, even to the point of personal sacrifice – the ultimate act of LOVE.
Submissions will be accepted until 6 p.m. February 10. You will be contacted on the 11th with further information if your nominee is chosen. A simple form has been included below for you to fill out. When describing why your nominee should be chosen, make sure to include specific information regarding numbers 2 and 3. Here is a fictitious example:
Goody Neighbor is a regular weekly volunteer at Geauga Children’s Hospital as a story teller. She arrives on various days promptly at 9 am with an overstuffed bag of books and a pocket full of stickers. As she makes her rounds, we at the nurses station hear Goody as she chats with her young audience and allows them to choose a book from her bag. Her encouraging words and well wishes have brought tears to us on more than one occasion. Oftentimes, we hear giggles and cries for more as Goody lets each child pick a sticker from her pocket before she leaves the room. When the ward is especially full of patients, Goody still takes the same amount of time with each little person, sometimes staying until 10 or 11 pm. Her smile never fades, even at that late hour. Geauga Children’s Hospital owes much of its reputation as a caring place for kids because of Goody Neighbor!
**All information gathered in submissions will be kept confidential.
Thank you for participating! Please spread the word!
