Geauga Park District Hosts a Winter Wildlife Weekend

Wildlife in Winter

Bring your family the weekend after Christmas to learn from Geauga Park District Chief Naturalist John Kolar what survives and thrives in the wintry cold conditions of Northeast Ohio.

On Saturday, December 27, from 1 to 3 p.m., it’s Wildlife Detectives!

What animals are lurking in your backyard? Learn of the many tell-tale signs of their presence, then head outside on a short hike to see what we can discover.

Indoors and outdoors, families will participate in several hands-on tracking activities including a one-of-a-kind scat quiz.

Then on Sunday, December 28, from 1:30 to 3 p.m., visit the more specific Wildlife in Winter.

Freeze, fly, frolic or catch a few Z’s – animals in Geauga County have different fascinating ways to combat the cold.

We’ll be indoors to discover animal adaptations and strategies, best for those school age and up, then outdoors for a short hike to look for signs of active wildlife.

Registration is not required for either of these free programs;

Saturday’s is fully wheelchair/stroller accessible, but Sunday’s hike may not be, depending on the weather. Call 440-286-9516 with questions.
