The Sky Tonight Planetarium Show

Sunday, November 12th, 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Sunday, November 26th, 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Observatory Park, Robert McCullough Science Center – Join us for a planetarium presentation about what to watch for in the night sky each week. Building open house 1-4 PM. Weather permitting, also get a chance to view the sun using our safe, solar-viewing equipment. Wheelchair/stroller accessible.

Geauga Walkers

Tuesday, November 14th, 1:00 p.m. -2:30 p.m. at Beartown Lakes Reservation, North Point Shelter
Tuesday, November 28th, 1:00 p.m. -2:30 p.m. at The West Woods, Deer Run Shelter

Join other active seniors on weekly hikes typically 1½ miles long. A naturalist leads hikes held in Park District parks. Call Geauga Senior Center for full schedule, 440-279-2137.

Maple Town Tune Traders

Thursday, November 16th, 7:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.

The West Woods – Informal performances followed by jam session. All genres, instruments and skill levels welcome. Come to play, sing or simply enjoy as audience. Snacks to share welcome. Wheelchair/stroller accessible.

Timbertots: Getting Ready for Winter! (Ages 3-5 w/adult)

Friday, November 17th, 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. & 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.
Saturday, November 18th, 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.

The Rookery, Great Blue Heron Lodge – Discover what animals do to get ready for winter with fun indoor activities and outdoor exploration, weather permitting. Partially wheelchair/stroller accessible. Registration required.

Night Hike & Campfire

Friday, November 17th, 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.

Orchard Hills Park, Orchard Hills Lodge – Gather around a campfire, warm up with some hot chocolate, journey into the darkness to experience the magical world of Nature at night, then return to the campfire for a sweet treat! Partially wheelchair/stroller accessible.

Winter Wildflower Workshop

Saturday, November 18th, 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

The West Woods – After the colorful petals are gone, many of the summer wildflowers are still identifiable by their unusual seed pods. Learn how to tell many of these plants using the Winter Weed Finder booklet, available at the gift shop before the program for $6. Indoor session followed by a walk in search of plants to identify. Joint program with Native Plant Society of Northeastern Ohio. Partially wheelchair/stroller accessible. Registration required.

Winging It: Waterfowl on the Move

Sunday, November 19th, 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.

LaDue Reservoir, Boathouse Parking Lot – Meet up at the parking area on Valley Road to bird LaDue Reservoir for loons, waterfowl and Bald Eagles during prime migration time. Spotting scopes provided. Van seats available first come, first served. Caravan behind if van fills.

Interurban Walk to the Junction

Sunday, November 19th, 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

The Rookery, Great Blue Heron Lodge – Take in a presentation of vintage photo-images of the Cleveland & Eastern Interurban Railway, then take a walk along an old rail bed to the site of the way station at “The Junction.” Partially wheelchair/stroller accessible.

Turkey Trottin’ Scavenger Hunt

Saturday, November 25th, 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

The West Woods – Looking for something to do? Pay attention to this clue: On a rhyming scavenger hunt you will go to uncover turkey facts you did not know! Lots to explore for your eyes; you will even win a prize! Fun for the whole family. Drop it anytime during program hours to pick up a scavenger hunt. Staff will be available to assist. Partially wheelchair/stroller accessible.

Ohio’s Amazing Owls

Sunday, November 26th, 1:00 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.

The West Woods – Learn cool facts about Ohio’s amazing owls and discover the secrets of this amazing nocturnal predator. Wheelchair/stroller accessible.
