Prairie Flowers Picnic
- Wednesday, August 16th, 10:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
- Frohring Meadows, Katydid Shelter – Before the heat of the day, enjoy a leisurely stroll through the colorful prairie, then enjoy your own picnic lunch in the shelter. Bring lunch, and wear long pants and closed-toed shoes for some off-trail walking to get up close to some of the plants. Not wheelchair/stroller accessible. Nature’s Not to Be Missed.
Senior Day: Astronomy
- Thursday, August 17th, 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
- Observatory Park – Seniors, start the morning with a pancake breakfast, then enjoy a morning filled with astronomy, a planetarium show and the features of this International Day Sky Park! Tours of the trail will also be given on the EZ Go Cart. A collaboration with Geauga Department on Aging and University Hospitals Geauga Medical Center. Registration required. Grandparents Summer Farewell Fest

- The Rookery, Great Blue Heron Lodge – Grandparents and grandchildren, enjoy a morning of Nature fun for all ages! Nassau Astronomical Station Opening Celebration

- Observatory Park – The renovation of this historic building is complete – come see it! Evening activities include tours of the new Nassau Astronomical Station, planetarium shows, telescope viewing, make-n-take crafts, balloon artists, a food truck and free hot dog dinner, the Geauga County Public Library’s Fun Bus and the film “WALL-E” shown at dark! Partial Solar Eclipse

- Observatory Park – Watch the moon cover up the sun during Ohio’s first solar eclipse in years! Try out several methods of viewing the sun safely, model the eclipse, and try hands-on activities. Maximum eclipse around 2:30 p.m. Wheelchair/stroller accessible. Nature’s Not to Be Missed.

- Observatory Park, Nassau Astronomical Station – Take in the wonders of the night sky using the newly restored 36″ Nassau telescope. The Art of Rearing Caterpillars
