Geauga Park District’s Board of Park Commissioners has approved a resolution of intent to ask voters to maintain support of their parks while also reducing the annual cost to the Geauga County taxpayer.
At its meeting March 19, the Park Board decided on a renewal and decrease of an expiring 1 mill, 20-year levy that was approved by Geauga County voters in November 2000, annually costing the owners of a $100,000 market value home $25.02.
The resulting .9 mill levy is expected to generate an estimated revenue of $2,429,498 annually and cost owners of a $100,000 market value home $22.52 a year.
The issue will appear on the ballot November 5, 2019.
Geauga Park District is funded by the taxpayers of Geauga County through three park levies totaling 2.7 mills.
