Geology Rocks! At least that’s what our JES third graders say after spending a day at the West Woods. While there, scholars learned more about the local topography from Geauga Park District naturalists. This, naturally, goes along with lessons currently being learned in their classroom on geology, fossils, and earth resources. While at the West Woods, scholars investigated the sedimentary rock cycle’s role in the formation of our local bedrock, topography, and fossils. To do this, scholars utilized a stream table, and got up close looks at various rock samples and geology exhibits. The indoor activities were followed up by a hike to Ansel’s Cave to view geologic and human features of a major bedrock outcropping. Thank you to GPD for having us – our pups learned a lot!
