GGP Introduces the 2017 Class of High School Interns

Geauga Growth Partnership is pleased to announce the students who were selected for summer internships, working for sponsoring companies as part of the GGP Youth Workforce Development Summer Internship Program. Now in its 6th year, GGP’s Internship Program was established as a tool to “Build Tomorrow’s Workforce Today,” by providing this real-world experience to learn not only skills required in varying trades, but more importantly the “soft skills” so critical to success in work and life.

All students who were placed in internships earned their summer positions after completing resumes and interviewing with at least four companies each. This year 29 students from 10 Geauga County Schools are placed in internships with 23 different companies. In addition to their job responsibilities, students are required to complete two workshops that focus on soft skills training and other career readiness skills, and give a presentation about their experiences at an Internship Recognition event in August.

“These internship experiences are so much more than summer jobs for the students,” says Intern Program Coordinator Georgia Klemencic. “They will learn life skills that will affect them for the rest of their lives.”

Geauga Growth Partnership would like to thank all the companies who are sponsoring students this year. GGP is a 501 (C) 3 non-profit organization created in 2010, which works to retain and grow jobs, contribute to business growth and strengthen the local economy. Geauga Growth Partnership’s mission is to enhance the business climate, encourage job creation, to strengthen economic prosperity and to improve the quality of life for all Geauga County residents.
