Giggles ‘n Stitches 4-H Club Gives Back

by Emma Parker, Club News Reporter

Every year the Giggles ‘n Stitches 4-H Club gives back to the community by making donations to charities and doing service projects in Geauga County. This year, one of their major donations was to WomenSafe. At their June 16th, June 30th, and July 7th meetings, they collected donations from club members for WomenSafe. Donations ranged from gently used clothing and towels to personal care items and baby products, as well as other necessities for the shelter like toilet paper. Over 27 large bags were collected!

This service project was lead by Samantha Sunderhaft, Giggles ‘n Stitches Vice President.  She is also the Community Service Chairperson for the 4-H Club.  Samantha planned this service project with the club’s lead advisor, Julia Wood. Samantha contacted WomenSafe to find out their current needs, communicated the list of needs to the club members, collected all of the donations, and delivered them to WomenSafe.

WomenSafe is located in Chardon and their mission is to provide emergency shelter and support services to survivors of domestic violence throughout Northeast Ohio. They respond to the needs of victims experiencing domestic violence and provide education in the community aimed at reducing the incidence of domestic violence and making the community aware of what help is available.
