Giggles ‘n Stitches Gets Recognized for the 2015 Season

The Giggles ‘n Stitches 4-H sewing club attended the Geauga County 4-H Member and Volunteer Recognition Banquet on Nov. 7 at Cardinal Middle School in Middlefield. The club members and advisors received awards and recognition for their successful 2015 4-H season.

Six club members – Sarah Miller, Susan Roberts, Shelia Roberts, Jordan Spehar, Morgan Spehar and Graycen Wood – were recognized for representing Geauga County at the Ohio State Fair in August. Club members Katherine Penzenik, Olivia Penzenik, and Graycen Wood were awarded the Outstanding 4-H Member award for their dedication, hard work, and exceptional club involvement this year.  Graycen Wood received the Gold Medal award in the category of Achievement. Club secretary Elizabeth Cooper was recognized with the Outstanding Secretary Award for keeping an exceptional secretary’s book.

Advisors Beth Ward and Julia Wood received the Leadership award for their six years of outstanding service and ability to develop leadership in youth.

Giggles ‘n Stitches was awarded Honor Club for the fifth year in a row, recognizing the club’s exceptional achievements. The club also received the Community Service Club Award for excelling in their community service this past year. Two club members – Sarah Ward and Graycen Wood – were recognized for their participation on the county’s Youth Fashion Board, and two members – Sarah Miller and Graycen Wood – were recognized for their participation on the county’s Junior Fair Board.

Giggles ‘n Stitches will officially end their 2015 4-H season with a club holiday party that will be held in December. The club will meet again in February of 2016 to elect officers and select projects, and they will take a field trip to the Original Sewing and Quilt Expo next March.
