Imagine a small town where everyone knows everyone’s business, everyone gathers for events, and holidays are a mixture of fun and stress. Many folks in and out of Geauga county can imagine (live) this scenario, and those of who don’t can well enjoy watching the drama play out in Fruitcakes, a Christmas comedy at Geauga Lyric Theater this December.
Two unmarried sisters who share a house but can’t stand each other, need to work together every Christmas to carry on the fruitcake baking tradition of supplying the townspeople with everyone’s favorite baked good. But their mother willed each only half of the recipe, and neither sister is willing to share. Add to their shenanigans a fruitcake snitching runaway, a lost cat, a Christmas hog named Buster, a bustling Christmas tree lot, a chicken pox epidemic, and so much more . . . a recipe for holiday fun!
Tickets are $8.00 for children, $13.00 for students and seniors and $15.00 for adults. On December 3rd, for only an additional $10.00 ticket, attend Fruitcakes Festive Fundraiser at GLTG’s Art Center across the street at 106 Water St. There, before the show, enjoy wine and appetizers (juice for the kids!), and bid on a special raffle basket, mystery boxes for kids AND adults, and a holiday singalong. After the show, come back for dessert and the winner of the raffle basket. Wear your favorite ugly sweater and we’ll post your selfie on our Facebook page! Fruitcakes will run weekends December 2nd – 18th, 8:00 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, and 2:00 p.m. on Sundays.
Tickets for Fruitcakes can be purchased online at GeaugaTheater.org, or by calling the box office at 440-286-2255. Tickets for the Fruitcakes Festive Fundraiser can be purchased through the box office or the business office at 440-285-7701. Geauga Lyric Theater is located at 101 Water Street on the beautiful Chardon square.
