GREENS FOR GIVING – December 5, 2020 – Register Early!

Brighten the holiday season for seniors receiving home-delivered meals

Regional media are invited to cover and photograph Geauga Park District’s great annual Greens for Giving event – albeit a socially distant one this year – as registered guests create hundreds of evergreen decorations for recipients of Geauga County Department on Aging’s home-delivered meals!

Big Creek Park’s Donald W. Meyer Center will provide a perfect setting for this good work on Saturday, December 5, between 9:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Guests signed up for hour-long time slots and will be spread out between two rooms to complete their arrangements. Not surprising to event organizers who know how much the community loves this event, pre-registration was completed filled within weeks!

Should you wish to attend Greens for Giving as a member of the media, please notify Geauga Park District Outreach Coordinator Holly Sauder in advance at 440-279-0802 or hsauder@geaugaparkdistrict.org.

Now in its seventh festive year, Greens for Giving guarantees a way to brighten a senior or veteran’s holiday season by building a thoughtful and completely unique handmade creation from scratch.

“Greens for Giving is a wonderful way to give back to our community. There is such a warm spirit of goodwill at the event; people really want to help brighten the holidays for our Geauga County neighbors,” Sauder said. “This odd year in particular, this outreach should go even farther with all those seniors who receive our centerpieces, each one made with love in Geauga Park District.”

All supplies – fresh evergreens, decorations and containers – are provided, but feel free to bring your own hand pruners and additional decorative add-ons if you’d like. Geauga Park District is also again grateful to Geauga Farm Bureau member Bob Rogish of Rogish Farm’s Tannenbaum Christmas Trees, who returned as a gracious donator of all greens for the event.
