“Growing Your Business” Course for Early Stage Companies

SCORE, Counselors to America’s Small Businesses, and the Entrepreneur Task Force of the Geauga Growth Partnership will sponsor a six-week program of courses designed to help the growth of Geauga County businesses that have three or four years of operating experience. The basic course was developed by SCORE in conjunction with American Express Open. The courses will be held on Monday mornings starting on October 14, and continuing on October 21 and 28, and November 4, 11, and 18. The course schedule is from 8:00 to 10:30 a.m. All sessions will be held at the Newbury Business Park, 12373 Kinsman Road, Newbury, 44065. The course fee is $200 for the six-session program. Additional attendees from the same company will receive a reduced fee. Registration is now open online.

The “Growing Your Business” course will be led by Geauga County SCORE Counselors Richard Coyne, Jon Slaybaugh, and Dan Walter, plus four Lake County SCORE Counselors. Each has extensive operating business experience, and together they represent a total of nearly 35 years of counseling SCORE clients in Geauga and Lake Counties. The SCORE counselors will be assisted by members of the GGP’s Board of Directors and Entrepreneur Task Force.

Course participants will complete a Business Needs Assessment that takes a detailed look at their businesses history and background, goals, management, marketing, sales, finance, and operations. Separate sessions will then deal with these key topics, and participants will engage in roundtable discussions with the SCORE Counselors and other Geauga business leaders. Individualized SCORE mentoring sessions can be scheduled to follow these six sessions and are free.
