Harvest/Hunter Moon Times Two

Park programs at Observatory Park and by horseback at Headwaters Park

The harvest or hunter moon rises again on Sunday, September 30, and two opportunities have also arisen for your enjoyment of it.

At the Full Moon Program: Harvest Moon at 10610 Clay Street in Montville Township, explore Native American lore and watch the full moon rise with Observatory Park naturalist Wayne Kriynovich by naked eye and by telescope.

Registration is not required for this all-ages, wheelchair/stroller accessible program; call 440-286-9516 with questions.

Horseback RidingFor another opportunity, bring your own horse and join Naturalist Dottie Mathiott for a Horseback Moonlight Ride to experience the sights and sounds of autumn from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at Headwaters Park, Crystal Lake Picnic Area, 13365 Old State Road (Route 608) in Huntsburg/Claridon Townships.

Registration is required or callĀ 440-286-9516 for this four-mile ride on the Buckeye and Maple Bridle Trails, which will provide the possibility of sight or sound of twilight-active wildlife. Please anticipate hills, gravel, bridge and stream crossings; helmets are strongly encouraged but no longer required.
