Help Greg Fennell Get a New Wheelchair!

At the age of 19, Greg Fennell was in a motorcycle accident that left him in a wheelchair. Turn the clock ahead 35 plus years, Greg opened Newbury Country Meats, a butcher shop in Newbury Ohio. It’s a startup business in its 3rd year.

Greg spends long hours working every day to get his business off the ground. After putting in 12+ hours a day at the butcher shop, he goes home to help his mother maintain their home. He also spends a great deal of time repairing his current wheelchair.

Greg does not look for handouts or sympathy. He is a determined man who does not sit still. But his current wheelchair presents him with some very serious challenges. Greg’s current chair often gets stuck in the snow in the winter, and it gets stuck in the garden in the summer, and the battery often dies before he can get a job done. What’s worse, his current chair has lost its support and is now digging into his flesh and bone. It’s time for a new one!

Greg has finally found a wheelchair that will give him the safety and security every person deserves. It has the proper support protecting him from pain and sores that his current chair does not provide. It is heavy duty chair that will stand up to the Northeast Ohio outdoors.

So what’s the problem? Unfortunately, Medicare does not cover any of the cost of this chair because it is not considered an ”indoor chair.”

How can you help? We are on a mission to raise $35,000 to cover the cost of this new chair. Greg is a contributing and vital member of our community in Geauga County and his business is so desperately needed in Newbury. He deserves what we all take for granted… a safe, mobile life.
