Holiday entertainment seekers should mark their calendars now for the numerous events presented by the Geauga Lyric Theater Guild (GLTG). The GLTG will be offering affordable family fun throughout the month of December.
The holiday season main stage production, sponsored by Chardon Smile Center, is the heart-warming classic Miracle on 34th Street directed by Patty Osredkar and produced in association with Dramatic Publishing Co of Woodstock, Illinois. Running three weekends, beginning December 6 through the 22, Miracle on 34th Street is based on the 20th Century Fox Motion picture and adapted by Mountain Community Theater from the novel by Valentine Davies.
Santa Claus will be hearing the wishes of young believers at the annual “Santa at the Theater” event on December 14 from 10 am-1 pm. This free community program will include crafts, games and refreshments and as an added treat this year, the newly formed GLTG show choir, The Geauga Gems, will perform for the first time ever on the Geauga Theater stage.
There will be three children’s holiday performances and a special holiday youth art class offering in December. The family favorite A Charlie Brown Christmas will be taking the stage on Sunday, December 15 and Monday, December 16 at 7 pm.
On Tuesday, December 17, audiences are sure to laugh while watching the hilarious Best Christmas Pageant Ever. And with a modern and amusing twist, GLTG presents Humbug! the Christmas Carol story on Wednesday, December 18 at 7 pm. Held at the GLTG Arts Center, the second annual clay ornament workshop taught by Katie Arnold returns December 7 and 14.
