Now that school is out, your future chef may look forward to spending extra time in the kitchen creating culinary masterpieces. If your child or teen prefers the Cooking Channel to the Disney Channel, make their day by sending them to a cooking class at the Loretta Paganini School Of Cooking in Chesterland to hone their culinary skills.
Fans of ‘Diners, Dives and Drive-Ins,’ may want to sign up for the ‘50s Diner’ class, where T-bird and pink lady wannabes will learn how to create specials including strawberry milkshakes, baked “fried” chicken, Italian hamburgers and apple pie cookies. Fans of ‘Unique Sweets’ or ‘Donut Showdown’ may prefer learning some new techniques in ‘Muffin Madness’ or ‘Donuts from Scratch’ classes.
If summertime brings to mind thoughts of exotic travel, they may enjoy an ‘Around the World Cooking Camp,’ which features hands-on instruction to create the cuisine of China, Italy, Japan, Thailand, France, Mexico, India and the Caribbean. ‘A Day in NYC’ class features Big Apple street food specialties including gyros, jumbo pretzels and black & white cookies.
To experience a bit of Europe w/out leaving the states, why not try the ‘European Vacation’ class, which will highlight special foods from Italy, France, London, and Germany — no passport required. During this class, kids will make and enjoy pizza and spaghetti & meatballs from Italy, and savor quiche and ratatouille from France. London treats include pasties and shepherds pie, while German-inspired fare includes potato dumplings, schnitzel and apple strudel.
Small kids won’t be left out, however. Classes like ‘Breakfast at Disney World’ and ‘Pinkalicious Tea Party,’ allow kids aged three to five to participate with their favorite adult cooking buddy to create treats including strawberry Mickey Mouse waffles, heart-shape tea sandwiches, stained glass cookies, or a chocolate wand.
Whether the goal is learning to make crepes, or become a barbeque expert, chances are, there’s a summer class for your child. And the School will make every effort to accommodate allergies if advanced notice is given. Summer is a great time to feed your child’s passion for cooking. Whether they’re looking to pick up some summer grilling tips, or want to learn how to make easy Thai food, the Loretta Paganini Cooking School has classes for every taste. And who knows — your budding chef may surprise you with a fabulous meal to thank you!
