Start your 2023 strong by enrolling in a hiking program that will get you outdoors throughout the seasons to explore some of the best trails Geauga Park District has to offer!
This fourth year of Geauga Gems Trekking Series features a twist on previous years. Instead of 30 hikes, Geauga Park District’s fine naturalists have selected a variety of trails optimal for exploration each season. Your job will be to select a minimum of four hikes to complete each season from a list of six trail recommendations, your favorite trail, or a naturalist-led hike of your choosing, totaling 16 hikes at the end of the year. (Naturalist-led hikes are no longer required.)
Complete all of your seasonal hikes by the end of the year to earn a trekking pole (if you’re a first-time finisher) and an exclusive commemorative Geauga Gems sticker for your trusty pole!
To participate, simply register today at www.geaugaparkdistrict.org under Programs & Events. You’ll then receive a link to a printable card to keep track of your progress throughout the year. Or you can register or pick up your card at The West Woods Nature Center or Big Creek Park’s Meyer Center during normal business hours.
Participants may also earn the same rewards by hiking 60 miles of their choosing, 15 miles each season, by year’s end. For FAQ and more about Geauga Gems, visit our website under Activities, then Hiking. We’ll look forward to seeing you out in the parks this winter, spring, summer and fall, completing Geauga Gems goals!
