Kindergarten and first grade students dressed the part for the 100th day of school in February. In Kindergarten, students worked hard making projects containing 100 items that are all proudly on display in the halls of Jordak Elementary. In addition to the projects, to mark the day at school students went on a scavenger hunt to find 100 Hershey Kisses that were hidden around their classrooms – and were successful! In Mrs. Courtney Dyer’s room, students answered the age old question, how many licks does it take to finish a Dum Dum sucker? Turns out the answer is somewhere between 50 and over 200!
First grade students dress the part to celebrate their 100th day of school in February while kindergarten students, Lilliana N. and Dominic R. enjoy a sucker while celebrating the 100th day of school. To mark the milestone, students counted how many licks it took to finish a sucker, found 100 Hershey’s Kisses, and did counting activities.
Students also made 100th day crowns, filled in the blank 100s chart, built a 100 Dixie cup structure as a team, and used Bingo daubers to make 100 “gumballs”. Along with all of this fun everyone read books about the 100th day, sang songs about the 100th day, and counted to 100 by 1s, 5s, and 10s.
