Kayaking, astronomy and Monarch migration are featured fun during this summer’s Senior Days series, co-presented by Geauga Park District, the Geauga County Department on Aging and University Hospitals Geauga Medical Center.
There’s no time like July to take a kayak onto the open waters at Headwaters Park! So on Wednesday, July 19th from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., enjoy a pancake breakfast followed by some time exploring the waters of East Branch Reservoir afloat, or just enjoying the view at the Boathouse with friends and peers.
Come August, astronomy will be all the buzz in Geauga County with the new Nassau Astronomical Station opening to the public on August 19th. Seniors, a special astronomy event just for you takes place Thursday, August 17th, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., with a pancake breakfast followed by Observatory Park exploration and planetarium shows.
Then there’s September, when Monarchs famously start their long journeys to Mexico. Attend Senior Day on Thursday, September 14th, at Orchard Hills Park to learn all about their incredible flight and help tag live Monarchs if conditions are right.
Plus, all three Senior Days include tours of park trails aboard our fun and breezy EZ Go Cart!
Summer Senior Days are all 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., and free, but registration is required at Geauga Park District or 440-286-9516. Activities will be partially wheelchair/stroller accessible; don’t hesitate to call with questions.
Did you know…? Pick-Up Bocce for seniors is available for free every Tuesday, 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., at Sunnybrook Preserve – no experience or equipment needed!
