Robert Koonce, who has led successful fundraising programs for several area nonprofit organizations, has been named the new chief development officer for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Cleveland.
Koonce has more than 12 years of development and sales experience, most recently as the director of development for the Cleveland Museum of Natural History. There, he oversaw growth in museum membership and streamlined development operations. Koonce previously served in development roles at Western Reserve Land Conservancy and University Hospitals of Cleveland.
“Robert’s extensive experience and knowledge in fundraising at the very highest level will be an incredible asset to our team and our efforts to widen and deepen our circle of supporters,” said Ron Soeder, president of BGCC.
Koonce earned his undergraduate degree at Case Western Reserve University in Classics and his master’s degree in Instructional System Design from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University. He is a member of parish council at Communion of Saints Parish in Cleveland Heights and serves on the boards of trustees for the Cleveland Archaeological Society, and Lake Erie Ink, a writing space for youth.
Koonce lives in Cleveland Heights with his wife, Divina, and their four children.
