Leadership Geauga announces its new summer Youth Leadership Institute, a leadership development and civic immersion program designed for busy high school students. It is open to any rising junior or senior who attends school or lives in Geauga County. Limited to 20 individuals, this small group experience will open the door to the network of Leadership Geauga Youth and Adult Alumni while helping students prepare for their path following high school. The program will run over two weeks, July 14-19 and July 22-24. It replaces the older version of the Leadership Geauga Youth Program.
The high impact Youth Leadership Institute includes all of the most stimulating and inspiring parts of our well-known Youth program, including an overnight retreat, meetings with community leaders, and behind the scenes tours of Geauga County. It also includes a 10 hour job shadowing and leadership development opportunity with a community leader who is a Leadership Geauga Adult Alumni. The Youth Leadership Institute is designed to increase confidence, community connections, and further develop the student’s personal abilities to problem solve and lead.
Leadership Geauga proactively developed the Youth Leadership Institute after a careful analysis of the demanding daily schedules of most high school juniors and seniors. With the changing nature of today’s high school scheduling, missing one day can equate to missing a full week of classes. The summer format was chosen to offer this enriching experience without taking away from the participant’s educational curriculum.
Space is limited, submit an application TODAY before the class is full! For detailed information, including the program schedule and fees, visit the Leadership Geauga website, http://www.leadershipgeauga.org/programs/youth/youth-program-application/
