Leadership Geauga Presents Check to Geauga Hunger Task Force

On Friday, December 13, 2013, the Leadership Geauga Human Services Team presented a check to the Geauga Hunger Task Force (GHTF) totaling $2,230.

The Human Services Team members included Mark Verdova, Karen Hummel, Carol Kovac, Joyce Padavick, Michele Palmer, and Patti Phillips who are all members of the Leadership Geauga Class of 2014.

The check was presented to Middlefield United Methodist Church Pastor Ed Peterson, president of the Geauga Hunger Task Force during a reception held at St. Mary’s Banquet Room.

In addition to money raised, the group also donated hats, gloves, and various canned goods.

Being a graduate of the Leadership Geauga Class 2013 and serving on the board of trustees, I had the privilege of attending this day with the current class. Human Services Day is always an eye opening experience for me.

There are so many in need right in our own backyard. It’s great to see organizations like The Geauga Hunger Task Force do all they can to meet the needs of these people.

One of the most important lessons I learned from the day is that people are still hungry in the month of January and February, not just during the holidays.

If you have a spirit of giving, I would encourage you to reach out to the Geauga Hunger Task Force and consider donating throughout the year. Just a few canned goods a month or a few extra dollars a month can go a long way.

To support the GHTF, please make checks payable to GHTF and mail to: Geauga Hunger Task Force, 209 Center Street, Chardon, Ohio 44024.

You can also contact GHTF President Ed Peterson at epeterson@middlefieldumc.com or 440-632-0480.

If you are in need of receiving food, please call 211 for food pantry locations and hours of operation.
