It’s as if the stars aligned just perfectly this week: NDCL resumed in-person classes, the sun shone brightly in mid-January, and, yes, the Browns beat the Steelers in the wild-card playoff game.
For two weeks prior to Christmas and one week after the holidays, all NDCL classes met via live-streaming through Blackboard and Zoom as a precaution against potential exposure to COVID-19 during the holiday season. In-person classes resumed for 660 of our 705 students on Monday.
“I am glad to be back,” said senior Ella Koenig. “I missed my friends so much, plus I’m excited to start this semester because I’m taking interesting electives like Advanced Music Theory, Marketing Principles, and College Composition.”
While Ella, like nearly all of our students, prefers in-person learning, she did appreciate some aspects of live-streamed experience.
“My teachers did a good job of keeping us intrigued in our online classes,” she said. “And at least I was able to see other people—if only through Zoom!”
