Literary Cleveland, a nonprofit organization committed to creating a strong community of readers and writers in Northeast Ohio, is hosting its first-ever holiday mixer at CLE Urban Winery on Tuesday, December 13th from 6:30 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. Tickets cost $8.00 ($15.00 for two) and the event is free to Lit Cleveland members. The winery is located at 2180 Lee Rd. in Cleveland Heights.
The mixer celebrates a year of exciting accomplishments at Literary Cleveland, and is expected to attract Cleveland’s vibrant community of journalists, novelists, poets, podcasters, comic book writers, and readers.
Highlights of the mixer include readings by Dana Norris of Story Club Cleveland and local authors Hallie Arrigon and Lori Hollins, as well as raffle baskets featuring products from popular Cleveland vendors. CLE Urban Winery will also offer an extensive list of their unique house-made wines.
Literary Cleveland strives to advance the literary arts by offering classes, workshops, readings, and networking events at libraries, bookstores, and other venues around town. In addition to helping local writers strengthen and develop their craft, the organization aims to build a strong network of writers and connect them to their community.
2016 brought several exciting developments to Literary Cleveland. The organization garnered over 300 new and founding members, and is proud to have offered 50 workshops and networking events that served more than 1,600 participants. And in May of this year, Literary Cleveland was awarded 501(c)(3) non-profit status by the Internal Revenue Service, opening the group to increased funding opportunities from local foundations.
Going forward, Literary Cleveland is thrilled to continue expanding its base and offering quality programming to Cleveland’s literary community. “This isn’t a just a pipe-dream anymore,” said Susan Petrone, president of Literary Cleveland’s board of trustees. “As Cleveland’s newest nonprofit organization, Literary Cleveland is committed to the power of the written and spoken word. We’re helping Greater Cleveland tell its own story, one person at a time.”
