Bird Walk For Beginners
May 4, 2014 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Learn the simple steps to enjoying backyard birding in Geauga
Recognizing that bird watching is one of the fastest-growing outdoor activities in America these days, Geauga Park District Senior Naturalist Dan Best has scheduled a walk to get new people’s feet wet (though hopefully not literally) in the hobby.
What: Bird Walk for Beginning Birders
When: Sunday, May 4, 2014 – 1 to 3 p.m.
Where: Eldon Russell Park, Horwath’s Landing
16315 Rapids Road, Troy Township
This introduction to the joy, satisfaction and fun of being a fan of our feathered friends will provide assistance with binocular use, recommendations for choosing a bird guide, sources of regional birding resources, guided observation and tips for identification – all at no cost and with lots of bonding experience potential!
When Dan was a kid, bird watching was for “bird nerds,” and he and a friend took a lot of heat on the playground, he says, laughing. “But now we are surrounded by people of all ages interested in bird watching as a very relaxing, fascinating, entertaining activity.” As you can tell, he is very eager to share.
Registration is not required for this program for those school age and up. Trails are level, but do not qualify as wheelchair/stroller accessible. Call 440-286-9516 with questions.
