Chardon Tomorrow to Host its Fifth Annual WinterFest in January
Jan 17, 2015 @ 2:00 pm - 7:00 pm
The Chardon Square will come alive on Saturday, January 17, when Chardon Tomorrow hosts its fifth annual WinterFest.
The free family event will be held from 2 – 7 p.m.
Activities include horse-drawn wagon rides from Big Sky Clydesdales, ice sculpture displays, sculpting demonstrations, dog sled races and the lighting of a seven-foot ice tower.
Also featured will be free hot cider and cookies, a wooden snowman display, outdoor fire pits, snowmobiles, and a hot dog stand.
Attendees can warm up inside the log cabin hospitality station and enjoy raffles, face painting and the chance to meet Miss Fire, Miss Ice and the WinterFest princess.
At dusk the torching of the ice tower will begin. The sculpture is shaped like a giant chimney with wood and other flammables stuffed inside. Once lit, the structure glows to illuminate the intricate carving. The event culminates with an explosion of flames through the top creating a spectacular display.
The tower is designed by Elegant Ice Creations, a world-renowned northeast Ohio ice sculpting company. Throughout the day, carvers from Elegant Ice will be on site giving live demonstrations of their craft.
WinterFest 2015 is made possible through the presenting sponsorship of University Hospitals Geauga Medical Center. The event is hosted by Chardon Tomorrow, a non-profit organization that focuses on economic development and the promotion of Chardon.
Sponsorship and volunteer opportunities for WinterFest are still available. Please visit the Chardon Tomorrow website for more information.
