Many of you reading this don’t remember what it was like before Kent State University Geauga Campus existed. But there was a time when that was the case! In fact, it was 50 years ago this very year. Back then, a number of forward thinkers envisioned creating a higher learning center right in the heart of Geauga County. A place close to home where the community would have the opportunity to obtain a degree without having to drive hours away.
As a way of honoring the community who invited Kent State University to its county, the campus is now inviting you to join them for a FREE day of celebration!

Featuring The Cleveland Pops Orchestra

3 pm – 10 pm
This will be the first time The Pops Orchestra under the direction of Carl Topilow has visited Geauga County, and everyone is encouraged to bring their family and join in the fun. This alcohol free event and concert will take place on the beautiful 87 acre campus rain or shine. If you have never experienced one of their performances, you are indeed in for a treat!
Leading up to The Pops evening stage performance, you’ll be entertained throughout the afternoon by local favorite Sophisticated Swing along with a variety of other music including county/bluegrass, early rock, music that appeals to young adults and more. Music will definitely be the dominant theme all day! What a great opportunity for families to expose their children to a famous orchestra at a wonderful outdoor concert while relaxing in a park like setting.
Plenty of food vendors will be on the grounds with a selection to satisfy all taste preferences in the family.
Free vendor booth space, free live music, and first time appearance of The Cleveland Pops Orchestra – this is a day of fun and celebration you will remember for a long time! Kent State University Geauga believes in excellence in education – and excellence in entertainment as well.
