SNAKE SEARCH – Let’s spend time looking for snakes at The West Woods

Snakes are fascinating, and before it gets too cold, they’ll be on the move to find a warm spot for the winter. Hopefully with a bit of luck and a sharp eye, we can find some secretive serpents that call The West Woods home!

A very limited number of spots remain to join Naturalist Trevor Wearstler on a hearty Snake Search on Saturday, October 9, 1 to 3 p.m. Register soon at geaugaparkdistrict.org or 440-286-9516.

Together we’ll meet in the nature center, then set out hoping to spot native snakes – think Northern Water Snakes, Garter Snakes or Rat Snakes – by scouting out different habitats that these snakes prefer. Exploration will stay mostly on trail, but good footwear is advised, and please dress for the weather, as we’ll go out rain or shine.
