Why’d the Turtle Cross the Road?

May 29, 2014 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

turtleLearn why springtime is prime time for turtle crossings

Late spring is turtles-in-the-road time. That’s because hen turtles are ranging sometimes far from water to find a sunny spot with soft soil to lay eggs.

Find out more about these annual “eggs-cursions” and learn Geauga County’s various turtles species at this upcoming program with Senior Naturalist Dan Best.

What: Why’d the Turtle Cross the Road?

When: Thursday, May 29 – 7 to 8:30 p.m.

Where: The West Woods Nature Center
9465 Kinsman Road (Route 87), Russell Township

In addition to classroom time, hopes are to stage a turtle race so the reptiles themselves can demonstrate their range (and speed) of movement, Dan says.

Registration is not required for this program, which is wheelchair/stroller accessible. Call 440-286-9516 with questions.
