Local Farmers Market Holds Iron Chef Style Cooking Competition

Seasonal food doesn’t have to be heavy or boring. Get help and taste the season of farmers markets with inspiration from chefs cooking at the market. The competition will include multiple dishes and samples.

Local farmers market in Middlefield recently relocated in town at the corner of 87 and 608 in the Great Lakes Outdoors Supply (Spidalieri) parking lot. Vendors and customers alike supported the move and flooded the market this past week with great energy. Shopping totes by the market’s large sponsor, University Hospital – Geauga, were handed out for free, and customers packed them with local items as they shopped the market.

As anticipated, the move has helped the community and vendors succeed in the market. The new location has successfully provided more space, more parking, and better visibility. In addition to this, it has supported the community and enlightened the farmers market shopping experience.

On September 14, two distinguished chefs from University Hospital will be joining us for our second Iron Chef style cooking competition. In addition to the University Hospital chefs, a local chef will also be cooking up a storm with them. Come hungry and taste a dish made from local, seasonal ingredients.

Their dish will incorporate creative, yet manageable, cooking techniques as well as wholesome local ingredients. Come by and cast your vote for your favorite dish this Saturday, September 14!
