Dig yourself out this winter for an opportunity to create something you’ll really dig – a bluebird house, a painting, and maple syrup!
These experiences can be enjoyed on the following Saturdays.
Make a Bluebird House
On Feb. 6 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Big Creek Park Meyer Center, build and take home a house that any bluebird would be proud to call home.
We’ll also give you some pointers on where and when to place your birdhouse to attract bluebirds (and thwart rivals)! Fee: $10 covers materials. Participants should register “by the birdhouse” rather than “by the person.”
Winter Wonderland & Wine
On Feb. 27 from 6 to 9 p.m. at The West Woods, Nature Center, join artist Carlene Exline to paint a beautiful winter landscape on an 8×10″ board suitable for framing, while enjoying wine, cheese and great company!
This step-by-step instruction requires no painting experience. Adults 21+ only, please. Fee: $24 covers materials and refreshments.
Maple 101 Workshop
On March 5 from 9 a.m. to noon at Swine Creek Reservation Lodge, beginners and experienced producers are welcome to hone sugaring skills in this workshop covering everything you need to know including tree biology and identification, why sap flows, tapping, collecting methods, sugar bush management, producing the finished product, canning and packaging, as well as some local sugaring history.
Register for the February workshops here or by calling 440-286-9516. Register for the maple workshop through Geauga County OSU Extension at 440-834-4656.
All these workshops are wheelchair/stroller accessible; however, parts of the maple workshop may not be accessible. Call 440-286-9516 with questions.
