What better way to shake off the winter blues and welcome spring than an adventure through the chorus of spring animal songs as the sun sets on Eldon Russell Park?
The April Evening Adventure will be held on Friday, April 17, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Russell Park, Horwath’s Shelter, 16315 Rapids Road, Troy Twp.
Evenings are the perfect time to witness the thrilling springtime awakening of Nature! Join us as we search for the male Spring Peeper – a tiny tree frog that calls loudly from woodland breeding pools for a female – and the dancing American Woodcock – a bird that has migrated back to Ohio this spring to breed, and performs an unusual display to attract its mate.
Eldon Russell Park will also set the scene for active year-round residents: the bantering Barred Owl, the tail-slapping beaver, and the flapping Heron over the Cuyahoga River.
Our adventure will take us along the mile-long, sometimes muddy, Eldon Russell Nature Trail, so please wear boots that can get muddy and binoculars, if you have them.
Registration is not required for this free hike – just show up! Call 440-286-9516 with questions.
