March Means Pancakes in Geauga County

Every Sunday during the month of March you will see thousands of people roaming around various locations in Burton and other parts of Geauga County to be served none other than…pancakes.

Geauga County is known for producing some of the best maple syrup in the country and Burton (also known as Pancake Town USA) has been serving pancakes to over 20,000 people every March since 1951.

The event of serving pancakes has become so popular that the Burton-Middlefield Rotary Club officially trademarked the town as “Pancake Town USA.”  According to their website, Pancake Town USA over the years has served 1.66 million pancakes to over 503,939 people. More than 24,313 gallons of pure maple syrup have been poured on those pancakes. Over 133,414 pounds of sausage has been cooked and an astonishing 1,139,942 cups of coffee have been served to those who make this event a tradition. (figures as of 06/2011)
