With World Autism Awareness Day fast approaching on April 2, I would like to feature other wonderful autistic children in Geauga County.
This week I have the pleasure of introducing Marah Durman.
There are many ways to help spread autism awareness. As parents of a child with autism, we would like to put as much effort as possible into spreading the knowledge of autism to the general population. When we look at Marah, we see Marah; we do not see autism. Sure, Marah has autism, but autism does not define who Marah is. Please, take a minute to meet Marah, this is how autism looks to us.
Marah is a lot like most 12 year old girls. She is beautiful, bright, sweet-hearted, and loving. A couple of Marah’s favorite things to do are swimming, play games on Disney Junior’s website, and record her own videos then post them on her YouTube account. She also likes to look up her wish lists on Ebay. Marah has a vast array of movies, mostly Disney, and likes to collect new ones when she can.
Marah loves to goof off with her brother and sisters and always enjoys spending time at Grandma’s house with family. She loves to help cook, bake, and go horseback riding. She is a beautiful singer and loves to perform her favorite songs. Marah is always willing to try something new and is open for a challenge. She enjoys reading books and has recently taught herself the French language.
When Marah grows up, she says that she wishes to be a movie producer so that she can create and film her very own movies to share with everyone she meets. She says she would love to travel to Paris, France, and eat lunch under the Eiffel Tower. Marah is truly a blessing to have in our lives, and we love every part of the little girl that she is and the amazing woman she is becoming.
