The 34th Annual Quilt and Craft Auction was held on Saturday, November 1. The silent auction is the only event that the Family and Friends of the Metzenbaum Center use to earn revenue that enables the Board to help serve children and adults with developmental disabilities.
The auction is a popular event known throughout the community as a day full of fun activities. It started with a delicious pancake breakfast and then the bidding began! People were able to bid and buy refreshments throughout the day. Items in the auction included handmade wreaths, chests, Amish rockers, handcrafted toys, items from local businesses and more than 25 handmade quilts. There was also a “holiday shop,” a cash and carry gift shop for people who preferred not to bid.
The Quilt and Craft Auction raised more than $50,000, all of which will be used to benefit the Board’s clients.
Thanks to the community for helping to raise the revenue needed to continue providing services to those who need them. “It would be impossible to continue with the services we provide at the Metzenbaum Center without the support of our wonderful community,” said Superintendent Rice. “The Quilt and Craft Auction is a great way to bring the community together for a day of fun activities, while raising money to benefit the individuals we serve daily.”
