Sunday, September 18th, 12:30 pm – 4:00 pm, Frohring Meadows
Net and tag Monarchs, play an exciting “life-sized board game” dramatizing the hazards of their amazing journey, and catch a variety of butterflies, grasshoppers, praying mantids, katydids, beetles and other insects calling the meadow home. Participants may join in at any time.
Monarch Discovery Hike
Saturday, September 17th, 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm pm, Orchard Hills Park
Learn amazing facts about the Monarch, then hike along the scenic trails here to see how many we can net and tag. Roughly 1.5 miles with some hills. Rain or shine.
Nets are provided for both programs, or bring your own. Anyone who nets a Monarch for tagging will have his/her name recorded, in order for us to contact in the event of a recovery along the migration route or in the Mexico wintering area!
Sun protection, socks, a hat and long pants are strongly recommended for moving through the meadows. Please call 440-286-9516 with questions.
