NAMI Geauga County – Miles for Mental Health & Upcoming Events

NAMI Geauga County is offering FREE Educational Programs for persons living with mental illness on the topic of recovery, maintaining wellness and gaining empowerment. Peer-to-Peer classes are available along with weekly Support Group meetings: Tuesdays, September 6th – November 8th, at 7:00 pm at 107 South Street, #5, Chardon; or Wednesdays, September 14th – November 16th, at 7:00 pm at the Middlefield United Methodist Church, 14999 South State Ave., Middlefield.

A Family-to-Family Educational Program is available for family members and friends to gain a better understanding of their loved one who has a mental illness, Tuesdays, September 6th – November 22nd, 7:00 pm at 13244 Ravenna Rd, Chardon.

Family and Friends Support Groups meet the second Thursday of each month, 7:00 pm, at Geauga West Library, 13455 Rt 306, Chesterland, and the 4th Wednesday every month, 7:00 pm at Middlefield United Methodist Church, 14999 S. State St., Middlefield.

Speaker Meeting: Thursday, October 6th, 6:30 pm, Attorney David S. Banas of Hickman & Lowder Co. L.P.A. presents “Understanding Medicaid and Benefits Available to Individuals with Mental Illness.” He will discuss common misconceptions, myths and misunderstanding about Medicaid, Social Security Benefits and Financial Resources available that individuals and families impacted by mental illness may or already know or understand. RSVP for this informative evening to be held at Notre Dame Educational Center, 13000 Auburn Rd, Chardon.
