Put your hands to work to create this season!
Registration is open at www.geaugaparkdistrict.org or 440-286-9516 for two naturalist-led programs that will have you building either a stargazing chair, a basket made to sit on a stair, or both!
Naturalist Trevor Wearstler will host his Stargazing Chair Workshop on Friday, June 17, 6 to 8 p.m. at Observatory Park. The simple wooden chair that you craft will be ideal for stargazing or sitting around a campfire. Wood, tools and instruction will be covered by a modest fee of $15 for Geauga residents and $30 for out-of-county residents.
Then, the following weekend, Naturalist Renell Roebuck will teach the basic art of basket weaving during her Stair Basket Workshop on Friday, June 24, or Saturday, June 25. Both sessions will begin at noon and last till 6:30 p.m. (for those who take longer to finish) at The West Woods Nature Center. You’ll leave the experience with a new skill, plus your very own handmade rattan reed basket made to sit on a standard stair! See Geauga Park District’s Facebook page for a photo of the finished project. A fee of $40 for Geauga residents and $45 for out-of-county residents will cover all materials and instructions.
