NDCL Staff Participate in Motorola School Safety Training

This week NDCL faculty and staff members joined representatives from all Chardon public and Catholic schools along with local first responders to learn best practices for controlling and managing incidents affecting school safety.

National experts from Motorola Inc.’s SchoolSAFE Communications team conducted the full-day training session. Motorola has generously donated its state-of-the-art safety communication system, including 250 web-enabled two-way radios, to NDCL and all other schools in Chardon. These radios enhance school safety by providing direct communication between school personnel and public safety forces.

During the training session, our Incident Command Team learned how communications systems help to manage school emergencies and other large non-crisis events that impact public safety. The trainers used simulated crisis situations to give participants hands-on experience with the highly sophisticated radios and the complete SchoolSAFE system.

“Our students safety is our number one priority,” said Assistant Principal Mr. Vincent Bonacci. “These training opportunities help us to better understand the best communications practices and work together to collaborate on best practices.”
