NDES Discovers the National Treasures of Washington D.C.

On April 28, NDES students began their annual 8th grade trip to DC.

Upon their arrival, the students visited the Iwo Jima Memorial, the Jefferson Memorial and the President Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial. At the Arlington Cemetery, NDES students had the distinct honor of laying a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

The next day, NDES 8th graders toured many sites in Washington D.C. including the Lincoln, Pentagon, Korean and Vietnam Memorials. At the Capitol Building, students met with Congressman David Joyce followed by a special prayer service led by Sr. Carol Marek, SND at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception.

On Thursday, students toured the battlefields at Gettysburg and visited the Flight 93 Memorial before returning home.
