NDES STEM Program Shakes up Class with Earthquake Designs

Can your house survive an earthquake? NDES’ 6th grade STEM class put their knowledge to the test by designing earthquake resistant structures using cost-effective building practices. Researching engineering methods, students used marshmallows and straws to create a structure.  Once assembled, constructions were put through simulated earthquakes to test for durability.
